George Thornton was born 1742 in Madison Co, VA and died 30 April 1781.

George is said to have died from drinking cold water on a forced military march.

 

He married Mary Alexander. She was born 26 November 1756 in Salisbury, Stafford Co, VA. She was the daughter of John Alexander and Lucy Thornton. View the Alexander line here.

Their children were:

Sarah "Sallie" Thornton (born 1752 in VA; died 1800); married Thomas Lewis.
